European Rural University
      The AssocIation for European Rural Universities (APURE) was set up in Paris in 1988, with a popular and educational vision in mind. Its aim is to make sure that citizens and rural regions are fully involved in the European construction project. The association is organising its "European Rural University 2006" in Szolnok-Mesötur, Hungary, from 28 June until the 2 July 2006. Five major issues will be debated:

Poverty in rural areas
Agricultural products as alternative energy sources
The situation of women in rural areas
Possibilities for using environment-friendly agricultural technologies
Preservation of traditions and values in rural communities
