What is offered by the new technology is its ability to operate as the
point
of coincidence for numerous media. This may take the form of
simultaneous manipulation of image, sound and text, and present hybrid
modes of production and reception. The unit will focus upon the central
issues of integration: the means by which such a facility might be made
productive, its relationship to existing forms and the implications of its
employment.
(Compulsory Single Unit)
A critical examination, through research and extended written work, of a
theme or issue significant to the philosophies of interaction in electronic
media.
My dissertation was entitled: Training and learning:
Strategies for developing uses of the Internet within education
A section from my dissertation.
(Compulsory Triple Unit)
A final project that brings together the main creative, theoretical and
technical aspects of the course. The application of electronic media are
used to produce a piece of work that combines with, or relates to, an area
other than the student's specialism.
I worked on a concept known as the Oxmust Project, now part of the OMS site,
and created a CD-ROM to publicise it (copies available on request).
